I was jumping off our sailboat to dock and slipped. As soon as I touched the dock I knew it was a bad break because the bone was sticking out of the skin and there was alot of blood. My foot was turned completely facing to my back. I happened to be on a small
Island in the Georgia Strait. They had 1 "on call" ambulance with 2 parametics. We had to take a ferry to the mainland hosptal. That was
Sept. 17, 2003. After Hoffman screws being installed to hold the bones together after 6 months they removed that (bone still not fused)they decided to put in a 6 inch plate with screws to hold it. After 11 months without walking in August they said now I could start to try and walk again. Good Luck ! As of today 14 months later I still can't walk properly without any pain.
