Amy_Y : Week 4 & 5 - Allergy
Diary entry posted Tue 12:21pm 23 April 2019

I had a serious allergic reaction near the incision wounds starting in week 4. Hundreds of rash grew near the wounds and some even grew into little blisters. It wasn't painful but very itchy. The blisters were clear and no pos anywhere. I went to my primary care doctor and was prescribed steroid cream and oral anti-alergy pills. It got even worse a few days later and there was lots of yellow fluid coming out from all the wounds, very disgusting. I was sent to see dermatologist and allergist after another examination by ortho nurse. They both confirmed it's allergy but dermatologist also found some stool bacteria growing in the blisters. I have no idea how the stool bacteria went into the incision wounds as they were almost healed when the rash started. The scab was already breaking up and falling off. Now with the yellow fluid coming out from under the scab, the scabs are getting pushed to fall off quicker. Dermatologist prescribed a stronger steroid cream, and the rash and blisters and wounds are finally getting better.

My boyfriend came to visit on week 5, yayyyy! I was so happy the blisters were almost healed when he got here, so he didn't see those ugly oozy sticky yellow crusts that had been there for a week. Bad news is X-rays in week 5 showed no bone growth :(. That was frustrating cuz I've been feeling my fibula not moving as much as before. So I was expecting to see something at least near fibula. Doctor said it was probably the callus forming but hasn't calcified yet. He also advised that I should eat more proteins apart from vitamin D and calcium supplements. Knee ROM is perfect, same as my good leg! Ankle ROM is bad. I can't even bend it to 90 degree. Next visit would be another 3 weeks in early May. I really hate the long wait and that you never know if there's any change until the next visit, which always seems ages.
