Hi, I slipped and fell when leaping over a muddy peat bog on the top of a mountain! the result was a tibial plateau fracture, fixed with an op and two big screws. I too had a leg brace for twelve weeks. It was hinged at the knee and allowed as much movement as i could manage.
The good news is that the stiffness and your range of movement should improve. I had hydrotherapy for weeks. It was wondeful and got me walking in water !! They advised me to repeat the exercises several times a week at a local warm pool. I did the exercises exactly as they said. After that I progressed to the gym and did physiotherapt for a few months. It's really worth the effort of doing the exercises. I now have more ROM than I ever thought.
My treatment is to keep on swimming and walking, if I miss this out, I stiffen up and the muscle weakness is a problem.
I wish you all the best and things will improve !! Best wishes Ingrid
