Hi, Arlo!
Hope you're feeling better; I just want you to know that I've done the shoulder injury thing, too. Riding my bike, hit by a Mercedes, I landed with the corner of the curb perfectly aligned with my rotator cuff. This was 20+ years ago, so the edges are blurred a bit on the pain, but I remember I couldn't take a deep breath without whimpering for DAYS! I didn't have surgery but dealt with tendinitis in the shoulder for years- finally, with lots of weightlifting, it did heal. But there were times when I would gladly have had the arm lopped off at the shoulder, so I am feeling for you!
Then, 6 years ago, I had tennis elbow surgery on my right elbow. I was told it would just be a 2" incision, and I'd have a wrist split when I woke up. WRONG!!!! When I woke up, I was in plaster from shoulder to fingertips, and in my confusion and pain, I literally tried to chew my arm off at the shoulder! It took two demerol injections to calm me down, but for days, if I so much as twitched my fingers, I almost passed out.
But once again, it's behind me- I'm fine now. Bench pressing 80 lbs. (I'm 50) and single arm curling 25. Stick with your therapy, and hand in there- you WILL overcome!
