I've been doing all of the exercises which I am supposed to do for PT, and apparently it's helping! Yesterday I was finally able to get my foot flat on the floor while I'm standing. I cannot place it directly next to my right foot yet, because my calf muscles and Achilles tendon are still so tight.
Yesterday I brought my little one to a large Aquarium Museum. The excursion involved alot of walking, but he and I had a wonderful time there. Of course, I can never let things become too easy for myself while crutching. The handicap ramps are too boring, so I always enjoy crutching up the stairs instead. I know that it's dumb, but I like the challenge, and I'm always working on improving my balance in all types of situations anyway.
After we returned home after a day at the Aquarium, I took off the ankle support and saw that my foot was swelled up as badly as it had been 2 weeks ago, and it had turned that lovely shade of gey/brown/purple once again. This morning the swelling was gone, because I'd kept my leg elevated for most of last night, and used ice every so often.)
Most of my perennials in my garden are beginning to appear after their long winters sleep. This means>it's gardening time! I plopped a blanket down at the edge of the garden, placed the crutches in the grass, and while kneeling,I was able to weed and remove sticks section by section. The difficult part is picking the crutches off of the ground while at the same time, rising to a standing position. Tricky, very tricky.
