Annie, That's super duper news! An aircast for 6 to 8 weeks isn't too bad, there won't be alot of pain, and each day you'll feel alittle better. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the recovery.
The pain that i had after the hardware removal was mainly due to the incision and the stitches. I was able to put weight on my foot/ankle after surgery, but I felt more comfortable for a few days using crutches. In one of my posts I wrote in detail about the first week after the surgery. Check it out.
I am truly back to normal now. The ankle is alittle stiff sometimes in the morning, but otherwise it's as good as it was before I'd broken it.I couldn't ask for better than this! I'm now 100% back to normal. My ankles feel identical when I'm walking or doing sports. It doesn't ache, there's no swelling and not much to think about anymore. There's still some numbness over the scar and on the top of my foot, but it doesn't hold me back from doing anything that I want to.
Keep me posted Annie. I'm excited to hear about your results. I have a feeling that you will be very pleased. Just think of the surgery as a positive thing>removing hardware that your leg doesn't need anymore. Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
