David: Nikki has given you good advice. Full leg casts take a bit of getting used to as they are horribly awkward, however the good news (if you can call it that) is that they are much more comfortable than the dreaded plaster back slab you are now wearing. I spent a long time in a full leg cast with my toe pointed down and it made it hard to crutch without hitting my toes so the wheel chair was my only option if I wanted to get out and about.
