Just an update on my tib/fib fx with IM nail on my right leg. I am now in an aircast and I use crutches to get around but I can move around the first floor of my house with just the boot.
I had my 3rd ortho appointment yesterday as I finally reached the 3-month point. My surgeon said the bone is healing well and I am to start do some exercises while standing without the boot and to take small steps. My knee seems to be the biggest obstacle for me - it often gets sore and it hurts but he said that's normal. It's a bit of a concern for me, is that what other people are experiencing as well? The little bump I have on my knee is a bulky screw - just as I suspected. That was interesting.I was also told that the journey will continue for 12-18 months. Around the 6-9 month point, he said it will be frustrating because I will be expecting a big improvement but I will be plateauing at that point. Anyone else have similar outlooks?
My question, which I didn't get to ask is about my skin on my heel seems very wrinkly. I think it's due to my socks. I wear these fluffy soft socks because I find that anything tight creates indentations on my skin. Does anyone have any recommendations for socks that absorb moisture and are not too tight?
Thanks and good luck to everyone and their healing journeys!
