Hi Ginger, what's ROM and DVT? I have some swelling but I always elevate if I feel any pressure and I try not to overdo any exercising. It certainly seems like a nightmare at times, so I just focus on any improvements: i.e. can stand on it longer and with less pain each day. I may be too gentle on it, but I want everything to heal well and I try not to put too much pressure on myself to get better. I hope that your healing process is steady! This site has so many tips for you and you can ask all your questions! I am not using a cane, but I did ask about it a few times- no one thought it was necessary for me- which is weird because I find myself using my crutch as a cane essentially at times.
