I'm still trying to lose the 15 lbs I gained with my injury. I lost weight at first due to trauma and surgery, and thought "hey, maybe I'll lose weight during this whole thing." Nope, it came and is all in my stomach. I'm back to walking now and frustrated because before all this I had lost weight with calorie counting but it's just not working now. I'm doing Intermittent Fasting (basically no snacking in the evening and skipping breakfast). I feel like I'm finally doing something that will help.
I digress, my advice to myself was to focus on nutrition and foods to include (lots of veggies, fruit, lean protein and definitely dairy). Look up "bone healing foods" for some ideas on what to eat more of. And from there reduce simple carbs and empty calories (cookies, chocolate, etc). Focus on your diet for sure- it really is 90% of the issue. Again, I'm not a living example of this, but if I could go back in time I would have tightened up the diet a lot more than I did!
