Hi Susan, first, my sympathies to Cami - that's a rotten situation to be in. Not actually the first such on here - we had another a while back but I'm not sure they are still around on here.
Definitely the psychological/emotional side is likely to be difficult. Tears are totally normal at this stage for any broken leg, never mind being stuck in a spica cast.
Keep reassuring her that her feelings are normal and that tears are a good way of letting the tension out.
Make sure she's getting plenty of vitamin D - it is important for calcium metabolism and for healing in general.
She's going to need things to occupy her time. At this stage, probably binge-watching TV series, or listening to audiobooks, or reading using an e-reader that's easy to hold in one hand.
Ideally several different somethings so she can switch between them before she gets bored of any one of them.
Get her friends to visit so she doesn't feel too isolated.
