The fwb on boot was a gradual process for me, I was given the go ahead to start pwb July 31 and I was fwb for 3 wks. I did use my crutches, I could never get used to the walker. Also, would put light weight on it when I was at the sink, doing dishes or brushing teeth etc. I would test it on the scale, that was a great tip from dcb for me. I basically let the pain/discomfort be my guide and it was not pain at the break site it was all the muscles/ligaments and tendons I'd feel stretching that would guide me to how much pressure I was comfortable putting on it.
It's good news for you, once you're fwb in the boot you can move around so much easier and it's such a free feeling!

Aug 24 - 8 wks - FWB boot no crutches
Sept 7 - 10 wks - first steps no boot
