I've never had an above knee back slab but I've had plenty of below-knee ones and the cast is better to cope with. I have had two above knee casts and once you are used to getting around on crutches, they aren't so bad.

04/2006 Broke 3rd and 4th metatarsels 6 weeks NWB plaster cast
06/2006 Possible CRPS. PWB Cam boot, crutches
09/2011 Same foot crushed. Nerve damage. Multiple casts, NWB...
2016 Still PWB, barefoot
