It been 2.5 weeks since I broke my tibia and fibula playing football. I thought Iíd start a thread about what I have learnedly since my accident and encourage you all to do the same, as Iíve been reflecting a heck of a lot about everything. So - hereís goes and in no particular order:
I wont take something as simple as walking for granted ever again.
Breaking a bone (or 2) hurts more than you can imagine
Pain killers are nice - I float off when Iíve had mine - but also me feel incredibly sick
Using crutches in a full leg cast is tricky
My wife Is wonderful
My neighbors are brilliant
I wouldnít have survived without either Woden or neighbors
I have to sit down to a have a pee (!)
Being in a full leg cast is tricky to put it mildly
Sleeping in it is uncomfortable as is sitting on the couch
Sitting on the toilet is also tricky!
It feels like my leg is set in concrete- it is sooo heavy and hard
I get bored easier than I imagine bed watching the tv
I read more than I used to
Itís now winter and I can sit inside in the warmth - winner!
People stare at me when I go out - the cast especially which is bizarre
I have a lot more weeks ahead of me recovering- Iím learning to be patient
I will always wear shin pads if and when I return to playing football
Iím sure there are more but thatís my list for a starter.
What have you lovely people learned?
