Michelle, sympathies. Feeling depressed is pretty standard at this point I'm afraid - ALL of us on here relate to what you're going through. Having to rely on other people all the time is really hard, particularly when you're used to being independent. As for food... Keeping a good protein intake is important. And if you're not doing so already, take vitamin D tablets - Vitamin D is important for bone healing but also for a lot of other things and most people are deficient, especially in winter. Taking it might even help you feel better. I'd recommend fresh fruit and veg as well, but other than that, if you need comfort food at the moment, eat it!
The good news is that in another 2-4 weeks you'll be starting to weight bear again and you could be walking unaided (if slowly!) as soon as two weeks after you start partial weight bearing. And I can give you tips on progressing for that when the time comes.
Meanwhile, post here - we do understand.
