 Aircast advice
Ange    7:47pm Mar 5 2018

Hi all
Great to see such a fantastic site!

I'm 6 weeks post op from a trimalleolar fracture, plates inserted left & right sides along with screws. Just had a fibreglass cast changed to an aircast air select standard - mainly due to my ankle not being aligned correctly in the cast. Still NWB for another two weeks.

Pain levels were coming right until I came out of the cast. Aching, throbbing and spasms are all back, which I presume is just my ankle getting used to being at 90 degrees again.

My question is - what is best to wear in the air cast? The tube bandage I got with it is saggy, loose and irritates. I've been using a tighter tube bandage to try and reduce some swelling & pain, but not sure if I should be using compression tubes along with the boot.

Also not sure if you have to stick with cotton liners or if sports type compression socks made of Lycra etc are OK.

Thanks for all the stories on here. It is so nice to see there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Cheers,
Ange
