Fell off my crutches on a wet day. They went splat along with me. I hit mainly my non injured left side - fell on hip but did jar my toes of injured foot on landing. Use the pain to guide you if you have hurt yourself more. I had sore toes but like you ankle site was not too much sorer than normal.
As for fitness, look up online for exercises you can do 'on a bed'. I had to modify some for being nwb but if you mix and match you should get a basic workout. When you have some energy & need a boost, that may help.
I hear you on the self care front. Everything takes twice as long & twice the energy!
I've got a knee scooter, which is incredible especially after falling off crutches. That an option for you?
