Re: Struggling w/ Recent Foot & Ankle Fractures- Tips Appreciated
Sarah Clayton    5:06pm Mar 13 2018

Hi Megs, sorry you are feeling down. If you can get into the sun - not sure where you live - that can help a lot. I broke my leg in the summer (right at the beginning) so while that sucked - I was able to sit at lunch on my deck, vitamin D is essential so if you're not taking that already, do start.

This is s a good time to catch up on books, Netflix series, maybe a project you've been wanting to start, listening to music also helped me. I was fortunate to be able to work from home (I'm a developer) so I was pretty distracted during the day.

Try and do some outing, whether it's just to the mall to walk about on your crutches. I was also NWB for 6 wks but I did anything I could do, I was even weeding the gardens at 2 wks post break, my husband would put a chair beside them and I'd lean over. I found that walking alot on crutches burned calories too and helped me to go less crazy.

Good luck and hang in there.

July 1 2017 - spiral break fibula July 7 Aircast NWB road bike wipeout
July 31 - PWB
Aug 18 - FWB in boot Aug 22 - first PT
Aug 24 - 8 wks - FWB boot no crutches
Sept 7 - 10 wks - first steps no boot
Oct 1 - back on my horse
