I understand why you would be anxious, but the best thing you can do is to stop worrying. If you have clinical anxiety, you need to talk to your psychiatrist soon so the anxiety won’t spiral out of control. I never had anxiety until after I broke my leg.
As for general anesthesia, it’s safe for the masses. They know your medical history and will take extraordinary precautions if you are predisposed to complications. I broke my leg in Palestine and fled to Jerusalem for IM nail surgery. I was awake the entire time. Just had a spinal block. Nearly 4 hours of hammering, sawing, and stapling! Now THAT made me anxious, but you’re going to be fine! I’m sure you’re in good hands!
This type of injury is known for a long recovery process. It will be painful, the pain will last a long time, and once you start seeing progress, you will have good days and bad days. You absolutely cannot worry about these bad days, because that’s the nature of the healing process. I was depressed until I found acceptance within myself for the situation I was in. I accept that my leg my never be the same, but praise God I still have a functional leg! I am much more fortunate than most! Will say a prayer for you surgery tomorrow.
