Unfortunately I got to 8 months before non-union of the tibia was declared. In retrospect, my treatment was quite conservative because I am young and have no risk factors, and I was healing very well during the first few months post-break.That said, I was in constant pain and I wish I had pushed earlier on for further imaging or a second opinion.
I had a generous amount of sick leave and my employer was very accommodating, yet I wasn't able to work at full capacity for all of 2015. As much as possible, focus on rest and recovery and listen to your body. Best of luck!
Jan 2015: Broken distal tib/fib, IM nail + screws
Oct 2015: IM exchange nailing for tibia non-union
Nov 2015: MRSA infection; surgery + 3.5 months antibiotic therapy for infection
April 2016: Bones healed
Oct-Nov 2018: IM nail removal, wound infection
