 Re: Perspective shift
SMM    12:00pm Mar 13 2019

Hi Em,
This is an absolutely great question. I am years away from my original break. I know that if I hadn't broken my leg right after undergrad I would not have gone to grad school. My plan was athletics and the injury ruled that out. It forced me to reconsider almost everything. In terms of career, I think everything turned out much better. The perspective about how important that injury was actually came in time. And with this more recent break, I applied lessons learned and actually became, I think, a better supervisor (especially about delegating). Yes, time does change perspectives, enabling some good to be seen.
Best wishes,
Matt
