They certainly do stare! Although, in their defense, I imagine I'd be staring too if I saw someone with a giant black cast propped up on top of the shopping basket of a motorized wheelchair looking like a massive fiberglass hood ornament! Up until this happened to me, I'd never seen one like this and I'm guessing most other folks haven't either. I know they're just curious.
Yeah, 2 random, teenage girls stopped while they were walking by us in the one aisle, and just started asking questions about what had happened and if it still hurt. Then asked to sign my cast? The cashier and her "bagger" did the same thing. I was a little "taken back " by it all. Didn't expect that from people I didn't already know. So when my girlfriend quickly said, "oh he won't mind, " it felt kind of odd to me but I wasn't going to argue with them, that seemed rude. They all wrote very nice things so that was kind of neat I guess.
Funny, my girlfriend said the same thing about taking pictures of the signatures on my cast! Lol. There's still plenty of room for more, but it's filling in ok. Although, this coming Saturday morning, I have another appointment with the ortho and will likely get a cast change. So we will have to start all over again with new "cast graffiti ". Lol
