Hi WB. It's been ok I guess. I've continued to keep it elevated as much as possible and with that, the pain and swelling have seemed to slowly decrease day by day. While it's elevated, either in the wheelchair or on the couch, I have recently not had any pain to speak of. Crutching is STILL an issue though as I continue to have pain and swelling when I'm on them for any extended amount of time. Crutching around the house seems fine as I am only traveling short distances and then I can get back to propping up my leg rather quickly. But if I stand around on them for any amount of time, or heaven forbid, have to negotiate the few stairs that are in my house, my leg starts to become "unhappy " and I need to sit back down and ice and elevate. However, while I continue to have pain and swelling, I do see gradual improvement in the pain level as well as the amount of time it takes to start hurting and swelling, so that's good I guess?? I am getting much better with operating the crutches though! :):) But with that being said, my wheelchair is STILL my "best friend " at this point! My girlfriend keeps trying to get me to "ditch it" unless we're out somewhere but I told her there was just no way I could do that yet with the way my leg feels after crutching around. I still have 3 full weeks to go in this cast before having to go back to the ortho for another appointment, but I wonder if I should be a little concerned that I'm still having pain and swelling like this??
