Really sorry about your slip and break. I also broke my tib and fib last year getting out of a hot tub, non weight bearing for 6 weeks but I had surgery so apologies I can't help you out with your question about non surgery. It's a personal scary and worrying time, try to get comfortable, understand that your leg is healing and taking lots of energy from you, so you may feel really tired a lot of the time. I made sure I had a few things to hand - lots of water, the tv remote, nibbles, books, pillows galore and take up offers of any help, even coming in for a chat or telephone call really helps.
My leg was quite yellow first of all, it was purple also, especially when I put my leg down, it felt so painful. After a couple of weeks, I hired a wheelchair and I can't tell you how much of a god send this was, it just about fitted through my doors and meant I could get about.
Lots to think about, but If I can get through this stage I'm sure you can. I cried my eyes out a lot in the first few weeks, just really that I didn't know my future any more, I couldn't 'see' how I would walk again, but I did....
