I have nerve damage on the top of my foot and the side of my knee/upper calf from surgery. It really bothered me in the beginning, but now I don't really notice it at all unless I'm specifically testing to see if I feel anything in those spots. Nerves are very slow to recover, as I'm sure you know.
I still don't feel normal yet- my fractures are still healing and as I become more mobile, hardware pain is becoming more obviously my next hurdle. But as time passes it feels less shocking and you adjust to the new circumstances. As you have improvements, you'll find it easier to believe there's a new normal waiting for you on the other side. I hope you're feeling a bit better today. The beginning sucks!!
