Hi, when I was finally able to ease a shoe on my foot I wore my hiking shoes, similar to these: https://www.joe-nimble.com/int/women/sport/wandertoes-283?number=1742-100-03.0 (these are expensive but just wanted to show a pic)
Mine don't have a high ankle and are fully unlaceable. What I appreciated about them- they have brackets to fit the laces in, so I can open them up very widely to ease my foot in- no tugging involved and I can accommodate swelling. They are "barefoot" shoes (but nicely padded) so there is plenty of room for my toes to move and work properly, which has been a big part of my PT.
The linked shoes are pricey, but perhaps you could find something a similar. Hope that helps.
