Hi Annette,

I think what your dr. is suggesting is Wolff's Law. Weight bearing can be a therapy/treatment for fractures. Yes, and I know from experience, stressing fractured bones can promote and speed up healing. So is your dr. suggesting that you may be in a position that would allow for this possibility? You ask some some great questions, and I would immediately ask your dr. the questions you've posted. It may be that he is suggesting that surgery, while an option, may not be the only option? Also, do ask about how much the leg needs to be supported should you begin weight bearing. Will you need a cast? There may be an issue with displacing the fracture. It sounds like your dr. believes healing may be possible without surgery?
