 "compete" fracture
AW (204.194.207.---)   3:20pm Dec 3 2019

I got my appointment with the specialist today. He met with the radiologist and they concluded that one of the previously described hairline fractures was suspicious so back to xray I went this time for a CT scan of my leg. Fracture of my distal femur is in fact "complete" which means in plain English that I have a broken leg. I am waiting my turn in the cast room on a gurney outside the casting suite. The winter weather has produced a lot of broken limbs so its going to be while. My chart is on a clip board attached to my wheel chair and marked "plaster FLC Ex 30". Sounds like a white Christmas for me. Dr was vague about how long I will be in plaster but the nurse explained that when they put Ex on the instructions it means extra layers to reduce patients mobility and that usually means patient will be in the cast for longer than the usual 6 weeks. The 30 means my knee is to be bent 30 degrees so there is no way my toes can touch the floor, The only good news is that I should heal without the need for surgery if everything goes well. Merry Christmas
