Hi Davie,

Sorry to hear about your tumble. And the long cast sounds horrible. I think that if they do surgery on you, they’ll reattach the bone with hardware so it is more likely to stay in place and you may not need plaster to the hip.

I broke my ankle in August and did have surgery to reattach the bones but I also had soft tissue damage and was twelve weeks non weight-bearing just because of the soft tissue damage.

At this point all I can offer you is to find some way to keep your self busy, and be glad it’s not summer. Keep reading here. Because it does help to have someplace to vent and see how others have gotten through what you’re going through now.

Aug 31 slipped on water from dog bowl.
Sep 1 surgery — one plate, seven screws plus syndesmotic screw.
No weight bearing for 12 weeks
