Pamela- Sorry about your accident and injury but you have "stumbled" across the right place. The pain unfortunately is typical/normal and will diminish with time and healing. Hopefully you have some good meds to get you through this period. In the meantime, elevation of you lower leg and applying ice in a baggie over the splint or cast will help with the swelling, pain and ultimately healing. On a good note, my broken foot felt much, much better when I got the wrap/splint off and the hard cast on. Good luck!
