Hi, yes you would do the same going down..I had a little practice with physio and from what I was taught it is definitely easier going down then up. But once you get to the top you have to figure how to stand up, I was told to put my good leg over my bad one and carefully turn over onto my knees and hands and crawl to something to pull yourself up or if you have someone with you get them to give you a boost by pulling you up by your hips.... I'm having the same dilemma as I have 20 steps going into my apartment...not sure how I'm going to get up them..thinking of just bumming them up and down, I'd rather get a little dirty then risk falling again...good luck!
