It's hard to believe that 8 years ago I broke my leg.... This site and the support has been amazing, I still lurk occasionally.
I was told several scary things when I broke my leg -
- a TPF is the worst break of them all
-you will NEVER walk without a limp
-you will have a knee replacement within 10 years
-you will never run again.
-you will never get out of bed and have think which leg you broke - you will always know
I am glad to say that 8 years out - I walk with out a limp - sometimes in heels!
My knee is doing fine - it does let me know if I have been too hard on it.
I can run - but short distances.
Some mornings I don't remember which leg it is!
For the last 8 years I have found ways to be active -
-my go to - weight training, spin classes, the elliptical, yoga and walking
I truly believe that this has helped me maintain the strength and function of my knee.
I wish everyone good luck in their healing adventures
