I hear you about having to be dependant on there's after a bad break. Yes it is really hard because you are used to doing things for yourself but keep reminding yourself it is just for now, and yes the just for feels like forever! I shattered my femur skiing and had to have my mom move in with my husband and I to care for during the week because he had to work. My mom is in her 70's and was doing everything for as I was no weight bearing and had to have help just to get off the bed. I hated it with a passion but I finally set small goals for myself and each time I reached a goal I celebrated. One step at a time. I am sure you would do the same for your wife. I am sure it hard on her too knowing you are in pain and frustrated. Don't let it get you down. Hard as it is find the positive and find the humour it really does help.
I think every day for the 3 months my mom had to come help me out I told her daily I hate this! But I turned the anger to my recovery and now 4 yrs later, I am good to go slight limp, get sore when it is damp but I can walk and do things for myself and that alone is a blessing
Hang tough and good luck when you get back on the ice
