I was also injured while on holiday but did not have to fly home but instead drove ... I can relate to the shock and disbelief you experienced.
The first 2 to 3 weeks are definitely the worst-hopefully you have a great support network of people who can help you out right now. Try to keep your leg elevated (above your heart) as much as possible. It is normal to experience that intense, pulsating, throbbing pressure each and every time you lower your leg for the first while - this can be really difficult to deal with. Feel free to vent with us on the discussion side or ask for tips and/or advice from those of us who have been down the same road. You're almost through the worst of it now (at least as far as your ankle goes). Wishing you a quick recovery.
