It's good to hear that your sessions in the pool help so much, and that you really enjoy them. You must be pretty fit to be able to do an hour of pool exercises AND swimming laps twice a week! I've done my share of the walking backwards, forwards and sideways, on tiptoes and on the heels, doing squats etc - so I know what hard work it is.

In contrast, it's interesting that you find it very painful to sit at a desk for four hours a night, as I've found that my ankle stiffens up and becomes painful if I sit in one position for too long - particularly at my computer, as there isn't much leg room; but also if I've been sitting in a meeting for an hour, or having a long time sitting in a waiting room, as I did this morning at the hospital when I went to see the OS.

I wonder if, while you're at work, it would be possible to leave your desk once or twice an hour and just walk up and down for a few mnutes to get your joints moving? I think it might ease the pain a little.
