Laurie2 : Here we go.....
Diary entry posted Sun 9:06pm 24 June 2007

My story begins in the sheet metal shop of our business Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 - the day after Memorial Day. My husband requested that I lend a hand in bending some sheet metal for one of our company's projects. I had always been cautious of the equipment and as my husband reminded me to back away from the machinery.....SNAP! There you have it. My foot caught under a metal cart and my balance thrown off = broken leg. Evidently my foot remained under the cart as the momentum carried the rest of me to the floor. The most unfortunate aspect of the event is that my precious 8 yr old daughter had heard the commotion and bore witness to the entire gruesome incident and the dreaded visit to the E.R. with foot dangling!

Once at the E.R. the fun REALLY began. You know, you think broken leg and you think I'll get a cast and hobble around for awhile! At least that's what naive me thought. I had never broken a bone before, nor had anyone close to me. But, alas, the simple break would not be my fate - OH NO! I would (as testified by a kind E.R. nurse) have to have "the worst break" she had ever seen! So - here we are.
